Age of Diagnosis for Co-occurring Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder During Childhood and Adolescence: a Systematic Review

Abstract Early identification and intervention are recognised as important elements of the clinical pathway for autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Children with ASD attention deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) may be diagnosed at a different age than children who only have one these diagnoses. This systematic review aimed to identify which were both ADHD. Of 9552 articles screened, 12 included in review. The findings suggest that is typically later when ADHD present, earlier present. Further research needed understand factors impacting delayed diagnosis an two conditions co-occur.
